Oxidative stress can hinder tear production by negatively affecting the cells found in the lacrimal gland. The test went on for 30 more days and after the second measurement, researchers found that the subjects that received 60 mg/day maintained high tear production levels while the group that took 30 mg/day saw a decrease in their tear production but maintained levels double that of the baseline measurement.

A quality-of-life survey was sent out to various participants with dry eye syndrome. Participants were asked to the severity of their symptoms from 0-4 with 0 being the the lowest severity. Symptoms included dry eyes, ocular fatigue, eye redness, difficulty opening eyes, sensitivity to bright light, and more. After completing the initial survey, participants were instructed to take either 30 or 60 mg/day of Super Maqui Plus™ with Delphinol®. They conducted the same survey two more times, once after 30 days and another after 60. Researchers found that symptom severity was cut by nearly 75% after 60 days of use.
